Under Custom Variables you will be able to create variables and their subgroups that are critical to your study sample and enrollment. For each Custom Variable you create, you can choose from one of the following Types:
Single Select: a variable that is a list where only one option in the list is selected for the participant (ex. Preferred Contact Time – Morning, Afternoon, Night)
Multi Select: a variable that is a list where multiple options in the list are selected for the participant (ex. Temperament – Quiet, Difficult, Outgoing, Uncomfortable, Animated)
Short Text: a variable that is a short text string entered for the participant, you have a 250 character limit in a short text. Think of this link a tweet sized text box (ex. Alphanumeric Payment Receipt ID)
Long Text: a variable that is a long text string entered for the participant, there is no limit on the number and type of characters that you can add in this box (ex. Participant Behavior Description)
Number: a variable that captures a number for the participant. This is different from a short text box in that you can only type numbers, decimals and commas (ex. Height, Weight, etc.)
Once a Custom Variable has been created, you have the option to mark it as Global which allows you to Add an Existing Global Variable to other studies.
