Ripple includes a cross-study lab-level registry where you can search for participants across all of your studies. At this time, the registry is available to anyone in your team with Admin privileges. If you have admin privileges, you should see a link to the Registry on the upper right menu.

Once at the registry, you will find an advanced filter function on the left side that will help you sort participants using any combination of variables.

Using the registry to recruit new participants:

The registry is most useful when trying to identify potential participants to contact for new studies. To that end, select Yes on the contact permission question located on the upper section of the advanced filter (“Participant can be contacted for future studies?”). This question refers to a special variable that can be selected for each participant. The default for this variable is no (unclicked) for all participants, but this can be changed individually as appropriate if your IRB protocol allows you to ask whether the participant can be contacted for future studies.

Once you select Yes on the permission question, you can build a filter to identify potential participants. Once you have narrowed your list, simply select all and use the pull-down menu to move your participants to your new study. The selected participants will now appear in the Potential Participants section of your new study so that they can be screened and enrolled.

Family Pairings:

All participants have the option to have a family ID number. This family ID is not study-specific because family members can be part of separate studies. So it is important that you establish procedures to track family IDs and use them appropriately. When used correctly, Ripple will show all family members inside the detail view of each participant in the Registry. Ripple will also show you the specific study(s) participation and status of each family member.  This is useful in cases when you have to check if a participant has family members that were part of specific studies in your lab.
