Ripple was initially created at the University of Michigan in order to improve the recruitment and management of research participants at Dr. Nestor Lopez-Duran’s laboratory. He wanted a software solution that could help his team coordinate all aspects of research participant management, from designing better recruitment campaigns, to tracking participant leads, to managing study appointments and tasks. The usual tools, such as Excel and Access, just were not robust enough for the needs of researchers. Likewise, the tools designed for researchers, such as database systems created to manage data (Redcap) or data capture systems for managing surveys (e.g., Survey Monkey), did not have the features needed for proper participant management. Nestor realized there was a great need for a simple and affordable participant management tool for clinical and translational researchers. Out of this vision, the idea that is now Ripple was born.
Ripple is a web-based software solution and active registry that facilitates the recruitment and management of research participants for clinical, translational and social science studies. Built from the ground up by researchers for researchers to truly transform participant workflow, Ripple is an end-to-end research participant management software that accelerates the entire research life cycle. We call this the Ripple Effect.
